Transparant

Bèkske coffee is for everyone who wants to make responsible choices and contribute to a better world in a very accessible way. To help everyone who wants to contribute to the realization of our mission, we think it’s only natural to provide insight into the process and the costs involved in making a cup of coffee from a coffee berry to a cup of coffee. That is why we communicate our actions and choices as transparently as possible on our coffee packs, website and our Bèkske Social Impact Model.

Open communication

Logically, we expect the same openness from our suppliers, partners and customers. If there is room for improvement, we are open to any suggestion. With transparency across the board – financially, logistically and in terms of impact – we continue to challenge ourselves to critically examine the necessity of each step. At all times, our goal remains: the greatest possible positive impact locally, especially for women coffee entrepreneurs. Through this transparent, what we consider to be the most honest way of communicating, we are trying to set a new standard by which we can make a real impact on the local economy, the environment, our women of course, but also on the coffee drinker.

10 components

When assessed against the reality, the price is currently made up of 10 components. Of these, 39% already effectively benefits the Rwandan production chain. In concrete terms, for our 75 women, this means that they receive an extra €1.00 per kilo (on top of the nationally determined $0.26 per kilo). On top of that, another 25% of the profit goes to them, because they share in the profit. Finally, they are directly empowered through, among other things, the training they receive from our partner organization Solace Ministries on the sustainable and responsible cultivation of the coffee trees. For this, Het Bèkske has reserved €1.80 per kilo. These elements are separate from all the other women who benefit from the sale of the Bèkske in other parts of the production process (including at the washing station where we also buy the coffee).

Just taste them

Taste them all and discover your favorite brewing. No matter which roast you taste, they all come from the same arabica bean. Rwanda, country of origin, the height of the plantations, the way the cherries are picked, the climate and the harvesting season all influence the exquisite taste.
